Monday’s have a bad reputation. They’ve got their own song about being manic and you can even have a “case of the Mondays”. I think we should change that up! After all, isn’t each Monday a fresh start just like January 1st?
My part in this Monday revolution will be sharing 5 of my favorite things. All these things make me quite happy, and should be enough to counteract any case of the Mondays!
{Psst: For some links in this series, I could get a small commission if you click through and purchase something. Your price stays the same & the links have zero impact on me featuring something as a favorite. I select my favorites first, then figure out if any of them are sold online. Thanks!}
1. Gilmore Girls
One of my ALL-TIME favorite things is coming to Netflix streaming on 10/1! I can’t wait! If you have Netflix, just go ahead and book some vacation days for binge watching. Gilmore Girls had the best writing – very witty and fast dialogue. If you don’t have Netflix, you can always check it out on Amazon.
2. Getting Rid of Clutter
Waking up to a home with less clutter will make any Monday better, so it’s definitely one of my favorite things! I’m getting ready for a garage sale next weekend and can’t wait to send some of our stuff to new homes. It’s a great bonus that I can make money for the Christmas fund at the same time! I’m already planning to donate whatever doesn’t sell so I avoid bringing any clutter back into the house.
3. NEEDTOBREATHE
Good music makes my soul happy. The Outsiders album by NEEDTOBREATHE came out in 2009, but is still pretty darn brilliant. Check it out if you haven’t ever heard them!
4. DIY Rugs!
We have a serious shortage of area rugs happening in our house. We need one for the living room, dining room, office, & eventually the bedroom. But if you add those up, we could either go on vacation OR buy rugs! Katie from Upcycled Treasures came up with a seriously brilliant cost saving solution. She spent $20 on this 5×7 West Elm inspired beauty! That price makes me SO happy and I’m just about dying to have a chance to make my own.
5. MAGAZINES
I have a mild magazine obsession. I could go to the store and come home with 10 at a time if I listened to my instincts. I don’t even limit myself to just pretty home magazines. Give me an INC and I’m a happy girl. I recently decided I’m a magazine collector, and that makes it okay. The other option was putting myself in the hoarder category and who wants to do that? As you can guess, I’m working on a blog post about controlling magazine clutter. 🙂
I rarely actually buy magazines at the store because it is SO much cheaper to subscribe. You can get a year of BHG for less than it would cost for 2 issues at the store!

Getting rid of clutter makes me really happy and content too. This morning I would add pumpkin spice English muffins to the list 😉

Oh – that sounds so fall-y & perfect! I’m actually shocked no food related items made the list this week. I’m certain future weeks will not be lacking as many foods make me happy 🙂

I love magazines too! And I really like the DIY rug idea! My kitchen could use some new rugs 🙂

I’ve recently become obsessed with with magazines as well. My mom has been getting me all those cottage magazines. Plus we have a thrift store that sells recent home decorating magazines for .25!!
